STUART STARK , PT
A New York City native, Stuart graduated from physical therapy school in the Netherlands in 1979 then began his physical therapy career working with outpatient orthopedic patients. In 1985, he relocated to Oregon and continued his specialty of treating orthopedic patients for both Good Samaritan and then Emanuel Hospitals. In both hospital settings he developed his acute care skills and added pediatric experience while working in the Hillsboro School District.
Shortly after working with Julie Gudmestad to rehab from a lifting injury, Julie invited Stuart to join her at Gudmestad & Associates in 1990.
In 1993 he began teaching yoga and
incorporating the holistic yoga approach with the more
traditional/conventional physical therapy techniques
he’d honed throughout his career. Stuart feels
the yoga perspective, which looks at the whole body from
the center out, has enhanced his ability to diagnose
and treat patients. He believes his particular treatment
style is best suited to treating patients with sports-related
injuries; postural, over use/strain injuries; post surgical
or acute/sub acute back, neck, knee, hip and shoulder
problems. In March 2005, he gained new insight
and empathy for his patients as he rehabbed from his
own low back injury and resultant surgery.
A lifelong adventurer/traveler, Stuart enjoys frequent visits to Europe with wife Dana. When he’s not traveling abroad, Stuart can be found cycling, spending time hanging out with his loveable Keeshond, or enjoying his extensive music collection.
